REMAP is a charity that helps people with a disability to achieve greater independence by designing and making customised equipment ( not commercially available) free of charge.
Through his other voluntary activities with several organisations in his home town of Silsden, Dave Scannell, then WMS treasurer, met the leader of REMAP’s Airedale group.
Dave quickly realised that the woodworking skills in our Shed could be used to support REMAP projects and thus formally registered as a Group volunteer.
Over the last two years WMS have completed several instructions, including a padded skateboard, a bed table with reading stand and a removable ramp to allow wheelchair access into the garden.
All WMS members who work on these REMAP projects report that the smiles of the recipients on using their new aid is well worth the time and effort in creating these unique solutions.
