At Wharfedale Men’s Shed (WMS), every day is a testament to the incredible craftsmanship and ingenuity of our members. With a mix of traditional skills and modern techniques, we take on a variety of projects that benefit our community and showcase the creativity thriving within our Shed. Here are just a few examples of what you might find us doing on a typical day:
Custom Turned Gavel Set: Crafted from solid oak, this bespoke piece exemplifies the artistry of our woodworking team, combining precision and elegance.
Steel Chair Repairs: We’ve been lending a hand to our friends at Otley Courthouse by restoring and reinforcing their steel chairs, ensuring they’re sturdy and ready for continued use.
Refrigerator Door Handle Repair: Also for Otley Courthouse, our Shedders put their problem-solving skills to the test by fixing a broken refrigerator handle, saving the cost and hassle of replacement.
Vacuum Cleaner Repair: For one of our members, we brought a beloved appliance back to life, demonstrating our practical expertise and commitment to reducing waste.
Precision Lathe Tool Grinding: Our metalwork experts honed their skills by creating custom lathe tools, showcasing the kind of meticulous craftsmanship that sets WMS apart.
Custom PCB Circuit Board: For a local hedgehog charity, we designed and built a custom PCB circuit board, blending electronics expertise with a love for helping our community.
Each of these projects highlights the diversity of talent within our Shed. Whether we’re restoring, repairing, or creating something entirely new, the teamwork, creativity, and dedication of our Shedders shine through.
If you’re interested in joining us, partnering on a project, or simply stopping by to see what we’re all about, we’d love to hear from you. At WMS, there’s always something new to learn and something meaningful to contribute. Together, we’re building more than just projects – we’re building a community.
