Battling Bert to Raise Awareness and Funds
Wharfedale Men’s Shed (WMS) braved Storm Bert to bring some festive cheer to the Christmas Fair at Colton Methodist Church today. Loz, Malcolm, and Bob E donned their raincoats and set up shop (well, a table tucked into the far corner). The morning started quietly – so quietly, in fact, they could focus on the coffee and cakes. However, by mid-morning, the tide turned, and the team made a dozen sales, raising funds for the Shed.
Special thanks to Malcolm, who not only crafted many of the items for sale but also took charge of much of the transport. His dedication and effort exemplify the spirit of WMS!
Loz’s Show Report
“Kicking off with Bert starting the day somewhat despondently, it was in slushy rain that Bob, Malcolm and I met up to attend the Xmas Fair at Colton Methodist’s Church. Having loaded the table supplied (in the far corner!) with the goodies, we sat back at 10am to await the onslaught… (note the word ‘laugh’ in there?) Luckily, we weren’t pestered by customers at all and so could enjoy the coffee and cakes to the full. After a good hour and a half, things started picking up and the next hour saw a dozen sales – so all in, a fair (!) do.”
Despite the challenges, the team thoroughly enjoyed the event and left with full stomachs and lighter stock. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and supported us!
