Today, the Wharfedale Men’s Shed had the pleasure of attending the Otley Green Fair at Otley Courthouse — an inspiring event that brings together people who care about sustainability, creativity, and community. Being part of a local event like this is more than just a day out; it’s a powerful reminder of why we exist.
At the fair, we exhibited a range of Shed-made wooden items — handcrafted with care from reclaimed and repurposed timber. We’re pleased to share that our total sales came to £113.37, all of which will help support the work we do and the projects we deliver in the local area.
We also brought along our ever-popular Marble Run, which attracted plenty of attention and delighted visitors of all ages. Sadly, it had to be retired partway through the day when the drive shaft sheared — but not before it brought a good dose of fun and fascination to the Courthouse.
The Men’s Shed movement is built on the idea of connection — with each other, with purpose, and with the wider world around us. Our presence at the fair was about more than showcasing what we do; it was about giving back, lending a hand, and standing alongside others who want to make a difference.
Events like the Otley Green Fair remind us that building a better, more sustainable future is something we do collectively — and that small, local contributions can have a meaningful impact.
