Or How we Kept Sane During Lockdown

The major project during Lockdown was to refurbish the Santa’s Sleigh for Ilkley Round Table.

This was a really exciting project as we had full control over the design as well as the build. The Round Table were exceptionally supportive and in the end were enormously pleased with the result.

Silsden Town Hall

One of our members is a ‘Friend of Silsden Town Hall’. During a lull in Lockdown he was asked if WMS could help build a set of shelves in a newly created cupboard for the Silsden Local History Group.

On the Back of this The Library also wanted to make use of a space to store books and resources for their activities. WMS Enthusiastically undertook the Projects to the satisfaction of all concerned.

Zoom Meetings

During the strictest part of Lockdown we met each Monday evening online to keep in contact with each other. Generally 5 or 6 members joined in. It proved to be an important part of our response to Lockdown. We always looked forward to the Craic on the Booze Crooooozzze

Wildlife Friendly Otley

WMS had established a mutually beneficial partnership with Wildlife Friendly Otley.

The Hedgehog Highway is a project we will return to. In the meantime WMS have provided a variety of Bird Boxes, including Swift, Tit and Robin Boxes which have been distributed to some of the local schools,

Refurbing a schools raised flower beds is an ongoing project.

Walking and Pictures

Some of our group are keen walkers and during lockdown completed an impressive number of walks. we use our Whatsapp group to keep in touch with each other and also to share the sights we come across on the walks.
