When WMS was approached by Otley Town Council (in mid 2022) to produce a new Christmas Lights switch-on ‘box’, we had to put our thinking caps on.
For several years they had been sharing a large ‘plunger’ box with an adjacent council, but its size meant storage in Otley for the other 364 days of the year was causing problems.
WMS offered the idea of a small box incorporating a ‘suggested’ TNT blasting switch and a battery-operated visual light display within the box.
After one failure – pressure on the knife switch blade was applied too aggressively – a redesign by Bob E incorporating stop bars was built and has been used with success in subsequent years.
Now Otley Town Council has a unique Christmas Lights switch-on box that is both functional, attractive and can be easily stored when not in use – i.e. most of the time !
