A short while before Christmas 2024, WMS Secretary Bob Miles was contacted by the Treasurer of the North Eastern Circuit Charity, asking if she could have our bank details as the Charity had selected WMS to receive a donation from them.
Of course, Bob furnished them with the necessary details and in due course a generous donation was transferred to us.
The WMS Committee thought that the very least we could do in return was to make a suitable item as a token of our thanks and to ask if we could meet to hand it over to them.
On Monday 20th January, two members of the Charity committee, Eleanor Fry (Treasurer) and Ashleigh Metcalfe (secretary) paid us a visit when we handed over a gavel, turned from solid oak, to our delighted visitors.
On Thursday 30th January, Secretary Bob M received a message from Eleanor, Treasurer of the North Eastern Circuit Charity to inform that after a further committee meeting of their charity, they had decided to make an additional donation to WMS and that this had already been transferred to our account!!
Bob said that he was extremely grateful and felt that Eleanor and Ashleigh had been impressed with the work which we do in support of our members and for the wider community, resulting in this additional grant.
