When Jean approached the Men’s Shed, she brought with her a treasured family heirloom—a music box made of Olive wood, brought back from the Holy Land in the 1960s. The original interior had long since disappeared, leaving the mechanism fully exposed. Jean hoped we could help restore it.

Of course, we rarely turn away a heartfelt community project.

Bob M re-sawed some seasoned Rowan wood from his collection, and John carefully crafted a small inner box to sit snugly within the original. Finished with five coats of shellac, we feel the result was both beautiful and respectful of the music box’s heritage.

Jean was delighted with the transformation and is looking forward to showing her family the restored piece this Christmas. Jean also made a very generous contribution to WMS funds.
