While most of Yorkshire sought shade and ice cream, the Wharfedale Men’s Shed team took on Monday’s record-breaking 30°C with sleeves rolled up, sunhats firmly fastened, and projects still powering ahead.
It was the hottest day of the year so far, but WMS members showed the kind of commitment that doesn’t melt under pressure.
🔨 Out in the sunshine, planters were measured, timber was cut, and brows were dabbed between efforts.
🪵 Indoors, the atmosphere was only marginally cooler, but the focus was unshakable (except when someone brought out the biscuits—then all bets were off).
🌞 Despite the blazing conditions, the laughter flowed freely, and progress was anything but sluggish.
Whether sanding in the sun or marking up in the shade, WMS members reminded us that true craftsmanship doesn’t stop for a heatwave—though it might take a few more water breaks and the odd retreat to a shady corner.
