On Saturday 28th June 2025, three members of Wharfedale Men’s Shed—Stuart, Bob M and John—attended the Volunteer Showcase Drop In hosted by Otley Action for Older People at Otley Common (Otley Methodist Church).
The event aimed to raise awareness of volunteering opportunities across Otley, and it brought together a wide range of groups and individuals passionate about making a difference. While sales on the day were modest, the real value lay in the fantastic community spirit and networking opportunities.
We had some lovely conversations with fellow volunteers and community representatives, and it was heartening to see so many people willing to give their time and energy to support others. Events like this remind us that volunteering isn’t just about what you give—it’s also about the connections you build and the shared sense of purpose you create.
A big thank you to Otley Action for Older People for organising such a warm and welcoming event. We left feeling inspired and proud to be part of a community that truly cares.
