By the time you read this, the Wharfedale Men’s Shed (WMS) will have completed the latest batch of bird boxes commissioned by Wildlife Friendly Otley and will be ready for installation around the town.

This completes a number of projects we have delivered in and around Otley recently; including refurbishing park benches, making garden planters and mud kitchens for local schools and designing and making small adaptations for adults and children with specific mobility issues. The talented members of the Men’s Shed also make small woodwork items for sale including bird boxes, hedgehog hibernation boxes and carved walking sticks, to supplement the charity’s funds.
We meet every Monday at the Otley Courthouse. WMS is a charitable friendship group for men who may be looking for social interaction, a new sense of direction or a new skill or hobby. A lot of our members join us following a significant life change such as retirement, illness or bereavement.
We are currently fundraising to build a bigger Shed, which will allow us to significantly expand our membership and do more for the Otley community. We are grateful for the generous support from several local businesses and organisations including the Skipton Building Society, Sinclairs and the Barristers North Eastern Circuit Charity.
A full display of items we have for sale will take place on the first Monday of the month outside the workshop (weather permitting). Items will also be available for purchase on other Mondays throughout the year.
If you are interested in what we do, pop in to see us on a Monday or if you are interested in becoming a supporter, please contact Bob Miles at wharfedalemensshed@gmail.com
