We were approached by the committee of Clifton Village Hall with a request to make and install a book exchange cabinet for them. This was something we had not undertaken previously, so some research was needed before committing to do the job.
A visit to Gallows Hill was arranged as there existed a similar cabinet which we examined, measured and looked at how it was constructed. Feeling more comfortable that we could successfully undertake the manufacture and installation, we priced up the materials and consulted with Clifton Village Hall committee who asked us to go ahead.
The cabinet was made off-site and finished ready for installation in May 2024. The Village Hall committee asked if the cabinet could be lined with weatherproof cladding in addition to the exterior ply being treated with preservative as they wanted it to be made to last!! The door needed to be of durable hardwood with a polycarbonate window. The roof was clad with roofing felt followed by Shingles and the whole structure clad in UPVC boarding sealed in with heavy duty silicone.
The final touch was to produce and install a Laser Etched sign ‘BOOK EXCHANGE’.
